Starting a YouTube channel

I’ve never really known whether everyone wants to do YouTube and thinks they’d really enjoy it or whether I’m different for feeling that way. What I do know is that I’ve wanted to do it for such a long time, I’ve always had so many ideas, so much interest in YouTube’s and YouTube in general. I’d always much rather watch what people have been getting up to than watching tv.

I’ve had so many friends tell me to start my own channel and honestly I have wanted to for such a long time and the only thing that’s stopped me was the fear of other people’s judgement. I was afraid of some of mats friends who are particularly immature and often unkind, I say some with emphasis as most are really lovely and genuine people. The same goes for some people from school, all of these people are totally irrelevant to my life and generally I hold know importance to their opinion on me. But this didn’t stop me letting something that they hadn’t even done yet stop me from doing something I knew I’d love doing. I was afraid of them talking about me, joking about me – but then I realised I care more about enjoying my life and doing the things I love than what those people think.

The perfect opportunity arose one gloomy day in Sydney. We had done all the walking, sightseeing and general out doorsy-ness that Mat and I felt necessary. He has a great little camera and I had a set up that worked (a chair on our bed with the camera resting on my laptop).

I was shaking with nerves and sweating at the start and I struggled to get my words out properly. After about 5 minutes of talking I felt myself get more and more comfortable and by the end I felt totally comfortable in what I was doing, I felt so overwhelmed because it felt totally right, totally unforced and I just thought ‘why haven’t I done this sooner’.

I have no idea what’s in store for my little YouTube channel with 63 subscribers, but I’m not worrying about numbers. I’m so proud of myself for finally doing what I knew I’d love and I am totally invested in this journey. Totally passionate and motivated and that’s such an amazing feeling. I can’t promise loads of views or subscribers but I can promise to upload videos that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed filming and editing. I’m teaching myself absolutely everything as I go along and that’s only another exciting part of my journey.

I am aiming to post between 2-4 times a week, I’ve had a bit of trouble with poor WiFi connection (I drained nearly 4GB of data this morning trying to upload a video, it only got to 61% then we had to leave, making that uploading and data usage VOID – it’s fine you can laugh) and trying to get my editing just right.

My next video hopefully going up this evening (as I’ll be posting this) is a VLOG of a normal day-to-day on holiday with my family in Australia. I’ll be doing lots more vlogs in the future as they’re some of my favourite videos to watch.

Here’s a complete list of the videos I have done so far, let me know if you watch any and if you do, which is your favourite?!

My THIRD video

I am so excited about this little corner of the internet and I have to keep telling myself to remember to do other things in my spare time besides filming and editing videos! I would absolutely love it if you would take a few seconds to like, subscribe, and share my videos, the support means the world to me! If you don’t have a youtube account then it takes seconds to do!

Until next time,

Megan
