Christmas is quite literally around the corner. The food preparations, present wrapping, game buying and general christmas planing will be totally underway now and I’m getting more and more excited as the days go by!
I thought that today I would share my christmas routine, because why not? I’d love to hear what your routines are, so please leave a comment down below!
I like to start my christmas celebrations on Christmas eve eve, where my dad and i will do a christmas shop, generally going to M&S to buy lots of chocolate, party food and other tasty foods we don’t need, but just want! Something myself and my friends started last year, was to meet up on Christmas eve eve, to get together and eat some tasty food…after all christmas is about spending time with family, and they most certainly are my family.
On christmas eve me and my dad will go and see my brother and his family, they have two young children and the eldest, Mya, is now at the age where she understands christmas and can properly get excited and talk about it…it totally puts the magic back into christmas for us all and it’s so lovely to be around. After this I’ll go and see my step-dad Neil and we will watch my favourite christmas film OF.ALL.TIME …the Polar express of course! It’s a tradition we’ve kept up for years and I can’t see that changing anytime soon.
After gauging on chocolates and watching the Polar express, my dad and I will then head down to our local church to watch their Christingle christmas service…another tradition that we’ve been doing for as long as I can remember. We’ve genuinely been every year apart from one year where we thought the service began at 5pm when it actually started at 4…that…was an awful time! It really wouldn’t be christmas without it, we used to go with my mum as a three and I’ve got such fond memories of this every year. The service changes every year so I wonder what ‘modernisation’ they’ll have made this year!
After the church service we will settle down for the evening and watch my second favourite christmas film….a christmas carol, before heading to bed early enough to get a good night sleep before the big day and giving santa enough time to deliver the presents!
We wake up naturally and start our christmas day with a bagel and some Bing Crosby, along with opening our stockings and presents! My dad is quite literally always in a good mood and christmas is no exception, he’s always on top form with the good christmas vibes! This year I’ll be heading out to see my step dad first thing in the morning to spend some time with him and his family – before driving down to Mat’s house for christmas dinner. I’m sure we will enjoy an amazing meal and amazing company followed by loads of christmas games and fun, what an amazing christmas day that will be!
On boxing day my dad has a football game to go to with my brother so we will head back from Mats early lunch time (Mat’s working boxing day this year anyway) and I will go and see my stepdad again and his wider family. It will be an amazing couple of days and I’m sure I’ll feel a funny kind of way when it’s all done again for another year, but I want to treasure this christmas as I might not get to experience an English christmas next year!
I’m so happy that I’m in a position where I was able to leave work before christmas so that I could be totally free to do whatever I wanted and spend as much time with friends and family as possible.
So whatever your christmas routine, make it one to remember this year…I hope you have a wonderful time and that everyone is in great spirits.
