Stocking filler ideas

Happy 6th of December! It’s getting towards the time now where I will start buying a few gifts for people…for me it adds to the excitement of christmas, I love every part of gift-giving, the thinking about what to get other people, the time in town/on the laptop on your own to buy the presents, the wrapping it…ah I just love it!

For years I would get a stocking full of little presents alongside my ‘main’ (how awful does that sound) presents… but after my mum passed away that tradition was lost for a few years. But now I’ve introduced the tradition to my dad and we’ve been doing it for a couple of years now, this year will be the third. Whilst yes the stockings don’t contain iPods or expensive jewellery, these little gifts are often the ones that make you laugh and smile the most. They’re the little cheaper presents…they’re always full of surprises and presents that people think you need.

Honestly if you don’t do a stocking yourself, you should definitely try it. Last year my dad and I spent christmas with Mats family and Mats lovely mum (Julie) had done me a stocking too?! All my christmas dreams came true. They both did amazing stockings and I can remember so many of the gifts I got from inside of them, underwear, lip balms, Lush bath bombs, perfumes, sweeties…ah I just love it!

So anyway, I thought I’d make a little list of good things to put in a stocking for someone. I absolutely can’t wait to start buying stocking filler presents for my dad, buying him the things he didn’t know he needed!

  • Perfumes – Next and Zara do great and good value perfumes
  • Chocolate / sweets …duh?! (I mean sweets are sweets, any store will sell yummy cheap sweets…but hotel chocolat is obviously amazing for indulgent chocolate)
  • Bath bombs (LUSH)
  • Underwear (VS)
  • Gift vouchers
  • Stationary (Tiger/paperchase)
  • Candles
  • Nail varnishes
  • Mugs
  • Photoframes
  • Fluffy socks (I would imagine john lewis would do a mean pair of fluffy socks)
  • Christmas decorations
  • Make up, things like lip balms are always great!

I also thought I’d include some good places to buy such stocking fillers

  • Home bargains
  • Hotel chocolat
  • Poundland/pound stretcher
  • Next
  • M&S
  • Primark
  • Supermarkets
  • Bodycare
  • B&M
  • Asos
  • Wilkinsons
  • Garden centres
  • Victoria secret
  • Debenhams
  • Boots

So if you don’t do stockings in your family, consider giving it a go…it’s such a fun little extra gift that’s certain to make someone smile!

Until tomorrow,

Megan
